  • Congratulations to Rupa Patel for being named a Commended Student in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship program. Commended Students placed among the top five per cent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition by taking the PSAT / NMSQT in 2011. They have demonstrated an outstanding potential for academic success.

  • Congratulations to Noah Lindemann for being named the South Carolina Art Education Association's Middle School Art Teacher of the Year!!

The Cherokee County School District Board of Trustees "School Choice/Assignment policy allows parents to request transfers for their students to other schools within the district according to the following guidelines:

• Each student will be assigned to a school that serves his/her legal place of residence determined by the board for the current school year. Students may transfer to a school of choice within the district as long as the student-to-teacher ratio does not exceed a number to be determined by the district.

• Students in the assigned attendance area will be given first priority for school assignment.

• Students must provide their own transportation if they attend outside of their assigned attendance area.

Did You Know Your Child Could Get FREE Tutoring? Your child may qualify for free academic help if he or she

· Qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch and
· Attends one of the following Title I Schools
· BlacksburgElementary (3-5)*
· Limestone Central Elementary
· Luther Vaughan Elementary
· Mary Bramlett Elementary

Information about this program was distributed to students in each eligible school in grades 1-5* in September, 2011. Enrollment for second semester is January 17–February 29, 2012. Due to large enrollment numbers in the fall, there are a limited number of slots available. Interested parents should contact their child’s school as soon as possible.

PowerSchool offers an online resource for parents allowing you to see your student's grades, attendance, teacher assignments and notes. Passwords are available through your child’s school. (read more here) (11/23)

mylunchmoney.com is a service open to all students in Cherokee County Schools. This allows parents to set up an account for their child/children to pay lunch fees securely online. With this service you never have to worry about writing another check or sending lunch money to school. Parents can also view account history to see how their money is being spent. (9/4)
